Wes Gobar is currently a graduate student at the Yale School of the Environment. He is the co-founder and Director of Outreach for the BlackOak Collective, a Black environmental networking and career development organization. He is also a co-founder of Evergreen Action and currently sits on their Advisory Board after previously serving as Coalitions Lead. Wes is an advisory board member for Climate Voice. He is also an active member of the Black Hive at the Movement for Black Lives and serves on the Policy Table Leadership for the broader M4BL eco-system. Prior to Evergreen, Wes as a confidential assistant and executive aide to Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring. Wes is a native of Fredericksburg, Virginia and a 2018 graduate of the University of Virginia, where he studied History and Government. His interest in advocacy began in Charlottesville as a racial justice student organizer at UVA. Wes’s writing has been published in Vox and the Washington Post. In 2022, Wes was named to the Grist 50 Climate Fixers list of emerging climate leaders working on real world solutions to our planet's biggest problems.
