BlackOak is a networking organization that aims to build a formal home for the many Black environmental communities in the DMV. We facilitate mutual support, collaboration, resource sharing, and mentorship for Black people pursuing critical work across a wide variety of environmental fields.
Increase Black Community – Build a home for Black professionals and advocates through our networking events. We believe this is key in order to catalyze mentorship and boost Black retention across environmental fields.
Increase Black Recruitment – Expand awareness and accessibility of environmental career opportunities through our events, member-exclusive resources, and the ‘Budding Opportunities’ Job Board.
Increase Black Innovation – Dismantle silos that exist between Black people across a wide variety of environmental and sustainability fields to spur creative collaboration through shared community, educational opportunities, and events.
